Day 1 – Tannersville, PA – Chateau Resort
Travel to Tannersville, PA and check into the Chateau Resort for a three night stay. Situated at the base of Camelback Mountain, the Chateau Resort is located just minutes away from the best of the Poconos… all the adventures, activities, and excitement.
Dinner is included tonight at the hotel’s Mountainview Restaurant & Lounge. Enjoy fireside dining, stunning views of Camelback Mountain, and an exciting menu. (D)
Day 2 –Tour of the Poconos – Lake Wallenpaupack Cruise – Bushkill Falls – Shawnee Inn & Shawnee Playhouse
Today, you will enjoy a tour of the Poconos with a local guide. The Pocono Mountains are famous for scenic beauty, tranquil lakes and quaint, historical towns.
Next, enjoy a breath-taking hour-long cruise on beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack. Your tour guide will describe the area and the history behind this charming lake region.
The afternoon included a visit to Bushkill Falls, the Niagara of Pennsylvania. Bushkill Falls is among the Keystone State’s most famous scenic attractions. This unique series of eight waterfalls, nestled deep in the wooded Pocono Mountains, is accessible through an excellent network of hiking trails and bridges which afford fabulous views of the falls and the surrounding forest.
Dinner this evening is included at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort. Following dinner, you head to the nearby Shawnee Playhouse. This historic venue provides a wide range of entertainment including drama, music, comedy, and special events year-round in the Pocono Mountains. (B,D)
Day 3 – Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway – Jim Thorpe, PA – Asa Packker Mansion – Shoppes at American Candle
All aboard this morning for a ride on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. Depart from the historic downtown Jim Thorpe Station into Lehigh Gorge State Park. The train will pass through the natural wonder of the Lehigh Gorge following the majestic Lehigh River over bridges through Glen Onoko into the Lehigh Gorge State Park.
Once the train returns to Jim Thorpe, enjoy some free time to for lunch on own and the change to explore this beautiful borough named in honor of Olympic Legend Jim Thorpe and named one of the Most Beautiful Small Towns in America.
Your visit to Jim Thorpe includes a tour of the Asa Packer Mansion. The Mansion was the home of philanthropist, railroad magnate, and founder of Lehigh University, Asa Packer. Built in 1861 by Philadelphia architect, Samuel Sloan, the home was constructed over a span of two years and cost a total of $14,000 dollars. Topped by a red-ribbed tin roof and a central cupola, or belvedere, the home was built over a cast iron frame and consists of 3 stories, 18 rooms and approximately 11,000 square feet of living space. The mansion is not a restoration; it exists essentially as the Packer family resided here from Oct. 16, 1861 to Oct. 29, 1912.
Now it’s time for the Shoppes at American Candle. American Candle is more than just great candles, it is also a fashion destination! The boutique is filled with designer accessories, handbags and gorgeous clothing lines. A great selection of jewelry from Pandora, Alex and Ani, Swarovski, and many others. Enjoy the huge candy room, featuring over 150 barrels of candy.
Dinner tonight is included at the Barley Creek Brewery, a restaurant, microbrewery and distillery serving great food, craft beer and spirits in a really fun atmosphere. (B,D)
