Itinerary
Day 1 – Cincinnati, OH – BB Riverboat Dinner Cruise
Arriving in Cincinnati, OH this afternoon, check into your area hotel for a two-night stay. This evening, enjoy a two-and half-hour dinner cruise aboard one of the B. B. Riverboats – the Belle of Cincinnati or River Queen. Take in the skyline, watch the river go by listen to the soft sounds of the DJ and enjoy a fantastic meal. (D)
Day 2 – Newport Gangster Tour – Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal – American Sign Museum – Brewery Tour & Tasting – Evening at BLINK Cincinnati
This morning starts with a Newport Gangster Tour. Before there was Las Vegas… there was Newport, Kentucky. Voted by Cincinnati Magazine as a “Best Walking Tour,” this two-hour award-winning tour begins with two gangster guides leading a raucous, high-energy presentation inside an old casino. For the remaining 90 minutes, visitors can prowl the streets where gangsters made their millions, gamblers lost their lives, and ladies of the night earned their living as Newport grew to become a premier U.S. gaming destination. Your group can see the buildings that housed casinos, brothels, and speakeasies, explore Newport’s connection to well-known crime figures and learn about the individuals who gave the town its infamous reputation.
Next, visit the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Station. The art deco masterpiece train station is alone worth a visit, but don’t miss its three museums: Cincinnati History Museum, Museum of Natural History & Science and The Children’s Museum, traveling special exhibits and Omnimax Theater. The Museum underwent a major renovation in 2017 and features stunning rotunda that’s the largest half dome in the Western Hemisphere! Lunch on own at Union Station.
The afternoon features a visit to the American Sign Museum. Come take a walk down memory lane and be mesmerized by spinning Sputnik-like signs from bygone eras. The American Sign Museum is 20,000 square feet of more than a century of American signage. From early, pre-electric signs adorned in goldleaf, to the earliest electric signs, to beautiful art-deco neon, to the modern plastic-faced sign, the museum covers it all.
Next, visit a local Brewery for a Tour and Tasting. Craft Beer is important part of Cincinnati’s history. In fact, so much beer was made and consumed in Cincinnati that in 1890 it was dubbed the “Beer Capital of the World.”
This evening’s highlight is BLINK® Cincinnati. This outdoor art experience inspires innovation and creativity through street art, projection mapping and light-based installations. BLINK® will span from Findlay Market in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood through downtown Cincinnati and into Covington, Kentucky – bridging two states, and spanning 30 city blocks and the Ohio River. The only U.S. event of its kind, BLINK® will feature 39 large-scale projection mappings, 16 new murals by national and international artists, interactive light sculptures and diverse entertainment. The city will literally be glowing — from luminous facades to twinkling alleyways. Dinner is on your own this evening, but food and beverages will also be available during BLINK®. (B)
