Itinerary
Day 1 – Branson – “QUEEN ESTHER” at Sight & Sound
On arrival in Branson your group will check into a comfortable hotel and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before your evening show. Tonight’s performance is Sight & Sound Theater’s newest show, QUEEN ESTHER. Set in the opulent yet perilous Persian Empire, QUEEN ESTHER is a captivating tale of beauty and bravery. Esther’s ordinary life changed forever when she was taken through the palace doors, entering a new world of royalty and risk. With a crown on her head and a secret in her heart, can she find the courage to trust in God’s plan and believe that she was made for such a time as this? (D)
Day 2 – Branson – Choice of Morning Show – Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama
You begin today with a choice of Morning Shows, depending on dates you choose and theater schedules you might see Clay Cooper, Doug Gabriel or the Hughes Brothers to name a few.
Then following a lunch break you visit the Shepherd of the Hills Farm. This is the authentic setting of the word-famous novel, Shepherd of the Hills. Now in modern day, you explore the setting of the where the Ozarks began. Plus, your little ones can have a blast in our Lil Pete’s Playland. History comes to life on a tour of the Shepherd of the Hills Farm.
Dinner is an authentic Ozark dining experience at the Shepherd’s Mill Restaurant. When you step into the restaurant, you will placed back into time of Shepherd of The Hills. While you are in there, take a walk around to find all the meanings behind the decor.
The Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama is the action-packed live reenactment of the famous historical novel by Christian minister, Harold Bell Wright. Published in 1907, this beautiful story tells of life in the rugged Ozark Mountains of Missouri in the late 1800’s. There are over 90 actors and actresses, horses, sheep, mules and donkey’s perform on a stage the size of a football field. There’s a shoot-out, the actual burning of a log cabin, a love story, a mystery and a moral message that is as true today as it was over a century ago. (B,D)
Day 3 – Eureka Springs – Dogwood Canyon – Great Passion Play
Enroute to Eureka Springs, AR your group will step aboard a comfortable open air tram and for an Ozark au Natural Tour. The route winds along the floor of Dogwood Canyon, past towering bluffs and waterfalls, and splashes through creeks. You will stop to feed the rainbow trout, whitetail deer, longhorn cattle and American Bison. It’s a wonderful morning adventure.
In Eureka Springs our day is spent at The Great Passion Play. You visit the Bible Museum which is made up of more than 6,000 Bibles in 625 languages as well as 3,000 artifacts. The Sacred Arts Museum features a diverse mix of artistic mediums portraying Christ and the Christian life. There are over 1,000 works of art in 64 different forms with pieces dating back to the ninth century.
Next, The Holy Land Tour provides you with the unique opportunity to experience the people, culture, and history of the ancient Middle East. You will explore the ancient Middle-Eastern culture in which Jesus was raised and will meet characters from the time of Moses to the time of Christ. As you tour through the New Holy Land, your guide will explain each exhibit and will stop along the way to allow you to meet Biblical characters who will help you understand the living history of the scriptures. Each of the individual exhibits in the Holy Land Tour have been researched for historical accuracy and have been recreated as authentically as possible, here you will:
– Speak with a “Levitical Priest” in the full-scale replica of Moses’,
– Visit a replica of a first century Inn typical of the type where Mary and Joseph may have asked for shelter,
– Walk beside the “Sea of Galilee” with Simon Peter as he speaks of his last days with Jesus,
– and Visit to the upper room where Jesus and his disciples feasted for the Last Supper.
You will also enjoy a wonderful dinner in The Great Passion Play’s Great Hall Buffet. Finally this evening, The Great Passion Play. The performance begins with the resurrection of Lazarus and continues on the Triumphal Entry of Christ into Jerusalem on the day known as Palm Sunday. During the performance you will witness the significant events leading to and including Christ’s crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension into Heaven.
You will see the colorful spectacle of the market place, the pageantry of the chariot and camel caravan, and the hustle and bustle of the crowds as they go about their daily activities. You may especially enjoy seeing the live animals on the streets of Jerusalem, the poignant healing, the angel rolling away the stone at the tomb, and the dramatic and exciting ascension of Jesus into the night sky.
Hundreds of actors and actresses, live animals, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting create an unforgettable experience for you under the stars. (B,D)
