Itinerary
Day 1 – Fort Myers
Afternoon arrival in Fort Myers. Four night stay in choice of hotels. Price will vary. This price is based on May – Dec lodging at a first class non-oceanfront hotel. Dinner this evening is at a popular and conveniently located restaurant. (D)
Day 2 – Sanibel
Today begins with a three hour dolphin watch and wildlife adventure cruise. Narration onboard is provided by volunteers from the Sanibel and Captiva Conservation Foundation.
There is nothing more exciting than watching dolphins jump in the wake of the ship. Sightings occur on 95% of the cruises. You will also spot many of the birds that make Southwest Florida so special and learn about the unique ecosystem off Sanibel.
The afternoon is set aside for the beach, shopping, or a ride on the 25 cent trolley to shops along the beach. This might also be a good afternoon to schedule a nature program on Sanibel Island, let us know if you want to consider one. Dinner tonight is at a seafood restaurant. (B,D)
Day 3 – Key West
An exciting day awaits as you set sail on the Key West Express Boat. It’s a quick and comfortable three and 1/2 hour ride to Key West – one of America’s most exciting little towns.
On arrival ride on the famous Conch Tour Train and see all the sights, learn the history and make note of the shops and restaurants available to you this afternoon. Dinner is on your own here, before we return to Ft Myers on the Key West Express. (B)
Day 4 – Everglades
This morning starts with a visit to The Butterfly Estates, an eco-attraction that surrounds you with thousands of butterflies. This is one of the few facilities in the nation that can actively breed butterflies and moths because they do not have exotic species. There is a daily release at 10:30 am!
You’ll have time to explore the historic district and lunch on your own before heading to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. These two good friends were snowbirds and spent many winters here. Your group will be scheduled for the homes and gardens tour.
If you prefer, you can substitute an Everglades Day Safari for the Butterfly Estates.
To climax your trip we have reserved seats for you this last night at the Broadway Palms Dinner Theater featuring a fine meal and a marvelous Broadway Musical stage show. (B,D)
Day 5 – Depart
After breakfast, depart for home. (B)
