Itinerary
Day 1 – Washington, DC – Kalorama Neighborhood Tour – Society of Cincinnati National Headquarters – Hillwood Estate – Gaylord Hotel – Arrive this afternoon in Washington DC. Upon arrival to our Nation’s Capital, each passenger will receive their very own keepsake Cultural Tourism DC’s Passport where each visited Embassy will stamp upon arrival as a record of their visit. Meet your local DC Guide for a tour of the jaw-dropping Mansions of Kalorama Neighborhood. There famous homes belong to the posh and elite such as: Barack and Michelle Obama, Jeff Bezos, and Ivanka Trump.
Next, visit the Society of the Cincinnati National Headquarters at Anderson House, one of the Capital’s most fashionable mansions. Used as a winter residence by Larz Anderson, an American Diplomat, and his wife, Isabel, an author and benefactress, also used this residency to showcase their art collection, hold diplomatic & dramatic performances. Today, this National Historic Landmark is open to the public as a historic house museum where the traditions of collecting, entertaining, and patriotic service still continue.
Then tour Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens. The mansion is the former home of cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and features one of the most comprehensive collections of eighteenth and nineteenth-century Russian Imperial art outside of Russia, as well as an extensive collection of eighteenth-century French decorative arts.
Following the tour, check into the Gaylord National Resort for a two night stay. Included in your stay is one complimentary cocktail at either Pose Rooftop Lounge or the Belvedere Lobby Bar. Enjoy a free evening for dinner on own and explore the many amenities of the Gaylord as well as the exceptional shops, attractions, and restaurants along the National Harbor itself.
Day 2 – Inside the Embassies – National Gallery of Art – Illuminated Monument Tour – After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide for an Embassy Tour. Travel through the streets of the Capital and explore the unique offerings of each individual Embassy- who routinely try to out-do each other year after year, with impressive spectacles reminiscent of their homeland! For many of these Embassies, this is the only time they make themselves open and available for public touring during the entire year! Experience just how small our world truly is with live musical & dance performances, Fashion shows, and more food and drink offerings than can be imagined!
This afternoon visit the National Gallery of Art housing an outstanding collection of masterpieces that trace the development of Western art from the Middle Ages to the present. The original West Building concentrates primarily on European works from the 13th century, while its contemporary counterpart, the East Building, highlights works of modern artists.
