Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday, March 21 – Macon, GA
Arrive today in Macon, GA, home of the International Cherry Blossom Festival. Enjoy a two night stay at a local hotel and dinner at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 2 – Sunday, March 22 – Guided Cherry Blossom Trail Tour – Cherry Blossom Festival & Parade – Piedmont Grand Opera House Tour, Dinner & Musical Performance
This morning, enjoy a guided Cherry Blossom Trail Tour. Each March, Macon becomes a pink, cotton-spun paradise of delight as over 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees bloom in all their glory. This tour will take you through the highest concentration of Yoshino cherry trees. Macon is also home to beautiful antebellum homes and the city is filled with unique architecture.
Then enjoy an afternoon at the Cherry Blossom Festival. You will be treated to one of the most extravagant displays of springtime color in the nation and the town referred to by Congressional Records as the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World. Enjoy vendors, great food, live music and lunch on your own at the Festival.
Also included is the Cherry Blossom Parade. Celebrate the community as participants showcase the best of Central Georgia during the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. See floats, marching bands and so much more.
End the day at the Piedmont Grand Opera House. Enjoy a tour of the Opera House first opened in 1905. Then enjoy a catered dinner on the historic stage followed by a private musical performance. (as available) (B,D)
Day 3 – Monday, March 23 – Hay House Tour – Depart for Home
After breakfast, tour the Hay House. The Hay House is a stunning historical landmark in the heart of Macon, Georgia. Built from 1855 to 1859 in the Italian Renaissance Revival Style. One of Georgia’s most distinguished structures, the Johnston-Felton-Hay House in Macon was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974. The house itself contains more than 16,000 square feet in 24 principal rooms.
Following the tour, depart for home. (B)
