Itinerary
Tour should run Sunday to Saturday
Day 1 – Tucson, AZ (Sun)
Welcome to Tucson, AZ! Upon arrival at the airport, meet your motorcoach and professional tour director and then you will be transferred to your resort for a six night stay. (JW Marriott Tucson Star Pass Resort, Tucson, AZ or similar)
After check in and an opportunity to get refreshed, enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the resort. This evening, dinner is included at the one of the unique restaurants in Tucson. (D)
Day 2 – Tucson and the Sonoran Desert (Mon)
This morning tour Saguaro National Park and explore the Sonoran Desert Museum. You will have a firsthand experience walking and exploring this unique landscape and learn about the fragile ecosystem that survives in this extreme environment. After exploring the beauties of nature, you will get to visit Old Tucson Movie Studios and Adventure Park for lunch and a step back in time. Built in 1939 by Columbia Pictures, this area has been used in multiple movies and gives you an opportunity to experience the Wild West.
This afternoon travel south to Mission San Xavier del Bac and explore this unique and historical Spanish Catholic Mission. Built originally in 1797, this mission is a small piece of the architectural and cultural history of this area.
This evening, enjoy a foodie tour/dinner experience in Tucson. Named a UNESCO Gastronomy Heritage City, you will get to experience some of the cuisine that has been in existence for over 3000 years. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Free Day (Tue)
Today will be a free day to explore the resort, golf, enjoy the spa, or venture into Tucson for some shopping or the opportunity to explore more of this unique area. The resort backs up to some great walking and hiking trails. Some optional activities include Jeep & Hummer Tours, Horseback Riding, Mountain Biking or Cycling, or visit some of the art galleries in the area. The Day is yours to relax and take in all that Tucson has to offer. Lunch and Dinner on own. (B)
Day 4 – Kartchner Caverns – Tombstone – Bisbee (Wed)
After breakfast, depart for an adventure into the old west! Enjoy a beautiful day with incredible views of Tucson as you travel south to Kartchner Caverns and explore this unique cave system. Discovered in 1974 and protected until it was created as a state park in 1988, this cave has beautiful features that will be a joy to see. Enjoy exploring other areas of the park including the Hummingbird Garden.
Next travel to Tombstone for another experience in the history of the West. Visit the OK Corral and other unique areas of Historic Allen Street, along with Boothill Cemetery and the Historic Courthouse. Lunch is included at one of the unique western restaurants in the area.
In the afternoon, travel to historic Bisbee to explore the Historic Queen Mine. This mine was one of the greatest copper camps in the world. With almost 100 years of continuous production, it produced over $6.1 billion in metals ranging from Copper, Gold, Silver, Lead, and Zinc. This mine was one that supplied copper that fed the industrial revolution, both world wars, and much more.
You will also have time to explore this unique town before returning to Tucson. Dinner is included a local restaurant before returning to the resort for the evening. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – Free Day (Thu)
Enjoy another free day at your leisure. Explore the resort, golf, enjoy the spa, or venture into Tucson for some shopping or the opportunity to explore more of this unique area. The Day is yours to relax or to explore in all that Tucson has to offer. Lunch and Dinner on own. (B)
Day 6 – Pima Air Museum – Culinary Experience (Fri)
This morning, explore the Pima Air and Space Museum, one of the world’s largest non-government funded aerospace museums. It features nearly 350 historical aircraft over 80 acres. Learn about this unique collection including a guided tram tour on a 1.5 mile circuit to view more than 150 planes outside the hangers.
In the afternoon, you enjoy an immersive culinary experience that will feature culinary masters who help preserve the spirit and flavors of Tucson and Southern Arizona. They are the keepers of age-old traditions, the new generation of wine makers, brewers, distillers and those who have perfected the rich blend of cuisines that have put Tucson on the map as a distinctive culinary destination.
This evening you will enjoy one last culinary experience in Tucson, a farewell dinner, before retiring for the evening. (B,D)
Day 7 – Depart for Home (Sat)
This morning, bid farewell to this beautiful area as you are transferred to the Airport (Phoenix or Tucson) for your return flights home. (B)
