Itinerary
Day 1 – Laconia, NH – Arrive in Laconia, NH for the night at a local hotel. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 2 – Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad – Lake Cruise – North Conway – This morning you travel to Meredith where you board the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Enjoy a ride along the western shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in the restored vintage coaches.
Departing the train at Weirs Beach, you board the M/S Mount Washington for a cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee. Take a scenic tour of the islands adjacent to Weirs Bay. During your cruise you’ll be immersed in the spectacular scenery of the western end of Lake Winnipesaukee.
Then you arrive in Wolfeboro, “The Oldest Summer Resort in America,” for a late lunch. Wolfe’s Tavern is one of the only authentic New England pubs in the Lakes Region.
Continue to North Conway for the night. Enjoy a free evening at Settlers Green Outlet Village. Shop more than 75 outlets, local boutiques, retail stores and restaurants. Dinner is on your own this evening. Remember, shopping in New Hampshire is tax free! (B,L)
Day 3 – Conway Scenic Railroad – Mount Washington Cog Railway – This morning you take a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad. Enjoy first-class seats on an old-fashioned railroading experience as you journey on historic rail routes in vintage passenger cars from an 1874 train station in North Conway Village, NH. You will travel south past the Moat Mountain Range and parallel Route 16 before passing through farmlands and crossing Moat Brook, the Saco and Swift Rivers on the way to Conway. Here, you can watch the powerful locomotive “run around” the train in preparation of the return trip.
Experience a sense of adventure and history on the Cog Railway’s 3-hour round-trip to the top of Mount Washington. This scenic train ride allows visitors to take in the spectacular panoramic view, spanning the White Mountains of New Hampshire and all of the Northeastern United States.
Continue travel to North Woodstock, NH and check into your hotel for a two night stay. Dinner is included this evening at the Woodstock Inn Brewery. (B,D)
Day 4 – Ride the White Mountain Central Railroad – Hobo Railroad – Aerial Tramway – This morning you stop on Lincoln, NH at Clark’s Trading Post. All aboard the White Mountain Central Railroad for a 25-minute 2-1/2 mile train.
ride on the wood-burning, steam-powered, Climax locomotive. Travel through a 1904 covered bridge across the scenic Pemigewasset River and into Wolfman’s territory. This longtime resident of these woods, the rabble rousin’ Wolfman will amuse you with his antics, all in an attempt to keep curious visitors away from his secret mining operation of the precious mineral: Unobtainium.
Next, you ride the Hobo Railroad through a naturally wooded setting along the twisting “Pemi” River at the foot of Franconia Notch. A Picinic lunch is included today with your ride.
Visit Franconia Notch Sate Park located in the heart of White Mountain National Forest. Franconia Notch is a spectacular mountain pass traversed by a unique interstate, which extends from the Flume Gorge at the south end to Echo Lake Beach at the Northend. Visit Flume Gorge which includes an 800′ long gorge with sheer 70 ‘I90′ rock walls.
Included with your visit is a ride on the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway. The aerial tramway is one of New Hampshire’s most spectacular rides. The tramway brings visitors to the 4,080’ summit of Cannon Mountain in approximately eight minutes. On a clear day, visitors will enjoy views of the mountains of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Canada, and New York.
Returning to North Woodstock, enjoy dinner on the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train. Featuring a two hour train ride complete with a 5 course dinner aboard 1950’s restored vintage rail cars, the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train is a dining experience of a lifetime. (B,L,D)
Day 5 – Depart for Home – After breakfast, you depart for home. (B)
