Itinerary
Day 1 – Clarksville, TN – Arrive today in Clarksville, TN for a four night stay. Enjoy an opening dinner tonight for the beginning of Heroes, Hometowns and Legends. (D)
Day 2 – Fort Campbell w/lunch – Veteran Traveling Tribute Wall Wreath Laying & Remembrance – This morning, join veterans, active duty and students for an enlightening table top discussion breakfast. Then you visit the Fort Campbell Army Installation, home of the Screaming Eagles, of the 101st Airborne – the Army’s only Air Assault Division. Lunch is included on post at dining facility.
Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. Tonight will be a moving tribute at the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Wall as we have our Wreath Laying and Remembrance Ceremony. From skydivers parachuting in, to a “Massing of the Colors” and special music and speakers, this is a sacred time of Remembrance. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Fort Defiance – Luncheon w/Keynote Speaker – “Memorial Mile March” – Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before touring Fort Defiance. Overlooking the confluence of the Cumberland and Red Rivers, Fort Defiance will share Clarksville’s Civil War story with interactive displays, re-enactors, and a guided tour.
Continuing our Veteran’s Celebration, enjoy a luncheon with keynote speaker (TBD). The afternoon features a visit to Customs House Museum for “Magic at the Museum” with master magician Terry Hedges. Terry has been performing for over 20 years all across the US and in Europe. He’s even performed at the White House twice. An award winning magician who can wow large audiences, Terry is just as adept at taking your breath away with a deck of cards and some coins- up-close and personal. Terry takes you through the gambit of emotions as he weaves together music, singing, theater, and surprises that will have you wondering where the time went.
Tonight, dinner is included at a local restaurant. This evening, you head to Beachaven Winery for the “Memorial Mile March.” For those who choose to participate, there will be a one mile walk on the grounds of Beachaven Winery, ending at the Traveling Wall. Each walker will have a name of a person they are walking for. For those who don’t want to walk, this will be an opportunity to visit the Wall, Remembering Our Fallen Exhibit or Field of Honor, while cheering on those who are walking. In addition, there will be special music on the stage for the evening entertainment. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – Veteran’s Parade – Historic Collinsville w/lunch – Finale Concert – After breakfast it’s time for the Veteran’s Parade – This is “Welcome Home Day” in Clarksville. While this parade is a special recognition of Vietnam Veterans, all military personnel are welcome following the VVA Founding Principle, “Never again will one generation of Veterans abandon another.” Marching units, Color Guards, marching bands and floats will be featured in this wonderful parade through downtown Clarksville.
After the parade, head to Historic Collinsville for lunch and a tour. Nestled in forty rolling acres, Historic Collinsville will take you back in time to the 1800’s and learn about how life was for the settlers to this year. With fourteen log buildings chock full of authentic antiques, your group will be transported to days gone by.
Returning to Clarksville, dinner is included at a local restaurant. Following dinner, end this patriotic trip with a Finale Concert. (Performers to be determined but 2019’s performer was Lee Greenwood) (B,L,D)
Day 5 – Depart for Home – It’s been a great visit. Have a safe trip home! (B)
