Itinerary

Day 1 – San Francisco, CA – Free Evening 

Arrive today in San Francisco, CA where you enjoy a two-night near the famed Pier 39! Dinner is on your own this evening.

Day 2 – San Francisco City Tour – Bay Discovery Cruise – Dinner at the Wharf

After breakfast, meet your local guide at the hotel to begin a four-hour San Francisco City Tour. View and learn about the sights and neighborhoods in this beautiful city. You’ll cross the Golden Gate Bridge, see the Twin Peaks and The Presidio, the Transamerica Pyramid in the Financial District (the City’s most distinctive skyscraper) and you will ride on a cable car.

This afternoon, take a cruise to Alcatraz. The cruise takes you along the San Francisco waterfront, under the Golden Gate Bridge, along the Marin Headlands, around Alcatraz and back to Fisherman’s Wharf.

Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant. (B,D)

Day 3 – Golden Gate Bridge – Napa Valley – Richardson Grove State Park – Garberville, CA 

Departing San Francisco this morning, stop at the Golden Gate Bridge Visitors Center.  Each year the Golden Gate Bridge attracts more than 10 million visitors to take in its tremendous 746-foot tall towers, sweeping main cables, signature International Orange color and Art Deco styling. Make a stop at The Bridge’s Welcome Center that offers merchandise and historical information.

Today, visit the Napa Valley region, known for hundreds of hillside vineyards in the Napa Valley wine region. In the city of Napa, Oxbow Public Market features regional gourmet food. Northwest of Napa is Yountville, a town known for high-end restaurants and sparkling wine.

The afternoon features a visit to Richardson Grove State Park which features stunning coast redwoods more than three hundred feet tall and a national “wild and scenic” river. Check out the walk-through tree and the bat tree; learn from the tree-ring study conducted in 1933. Don’t miss the gentle “racetrack” path, which passes many unusual redwoods, including a chandelier tree with multiple trunks branching several feet above the ground.  Enjoy dinner this evening at a local restaurant before ending the day in Garberville, CA and an overnight stay at a local hotel. Day 4 – Redwood National Park – Grants Pass, OR 

Today, visit Redwood National Park, home to the tallest trees on the planet. Awe-inspiring redwoods push their way into the sky from the misty floors of the old-growth temperate rainforests. Wander through peaceful prairies, follow winding rivers, and encounter wooded groves of oaks. End the day in Grants Pass, OR for the night. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 5 – Rouge River Brunch Cruise – Portland, OR  

Start your day with adventure! Explore the Wild and Scenic Rogue River in the cool of the morning with a 4-hour, 36-mile Brunch Excursion. This narrated adventure is filled with native wildlife, breathtaking views of the legendary Hellgate Canyon and a Champagne Brunch at the exclusive Hellgate River Lodge Restaurant.  Travel continues this afternoon to Portland, OR where you enjoy a two-night stay at a local hotel. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 6 – Mount St. Helens Visitors Center

Today, visit the Mount St. Helens Visitors Center. Walk through a life-like forest and experience the Eruption Chamber. Learn about forest recovery, reforestation and conservation of forest resources. While here, enjoy an included picnic lunch. Return to Portland where you will have time to relax and freshen up before dinner at a local restaurant. (B,L,D) 

Day 7 – Vista House at Crown Point – Route of the Falls – Pendleton Woolen Mills Store – Spokane, WI 

After breakfast, check out and depart Portland. Your first stop today will be at the Vista House at Crown Point in Multnomah County, Oregon, that also serves as a memorial to Oregon pioneers and as a comfort station for travelers on the Historic Columbia River Highway. The site, situated on a rocky promontory, is 733 feet above the Columbia River on the south side of the Columbia River Gorge. The octagonal stone building was designed by Edgar M. Lazarus in the style of Art Nouveau, and completed in 1918 after nearly two years of construction and offers fabulous views of the Columbia River.

Next, enjoy a Route of the Waterfalls drive including stops at Latourell Falls, Bridal Veil and Multnomah Falls. Bridal Veil Falls runs below the historic Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway – the base of the falls standing probably no more than 20 vertical feet above the Columbia River. Be sure to have your camera ready!!

You also make a stop at Pendleton Woolen Mills where they craft high quality wool clothing & blankets with designs that have survived the centuries. Originally built in 1893 as a wool scouring plant, washing raw wool before shipping, it remains as one of the few woolen mills in operation today.  The town of Pendleton’s early fame was as a major rail-head serving the Columbia Plateau and a shipping center for local sheep growers. The in 1960, a little-known singing group known as the Pendletones was formed, taking their name after Pendleton wool plaid shirts. That group later changed their name to The Beach Boys and the Pendleton shirt became popular among American youth.

End the day in Spokane, WA for an overnight stay. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 8 – Bing Crosby Family Home – Coeur d’Alene – Kalispell, MT – Cowboy Dinner 

This morning after breakfast, visit Bing Crosby’s Boyhood Home. Bing Crosby’s father Harry and two uncles built Bing’s childhood home in 1911, and it has remained in its original location for more than a century. The main floor houses the Bing Crosby Collection, which contains more than 200 items including gold records, trophies, awards, and an official Academy Award given for his performance in Going My Way (1944).

Next, stop in Coeur d’Alene, ID for free time and lunch on your own. Coeur d’Alene features a dazzling lake and mesmerizing mountains views. End the day in Kalispell, MT for an overnight stay. This evening, you will experience a true western Montana Ranch! You are greeted by cowboys on horseback as you enter the ranch. Enjoy a wonderful meal of chicken and ribs with all the fixin’s either outdoor or in the western themed dining room. (B,D)

Day 9 – Lake McDonald Boat Cruise – Red Bus Tour of Glacier National Park – Great Falls, MT 

This morning, enjoy a Lake McDonald Boat Cruise. The majesty of the Continental Divide and the tranquility of the emerald-hued lake are a must-see as you cruise along Lake McDonald, the largest lake in the park. Climb aboard the historic vessel, DeSmet, the flagship vessel in a wooden boat fleet from the shore below the Lake McDonald Lodge.

Then enjoy a Red Bus Tour of Glacier National Park. The journey starts in the cedar and hemlock forests of the Lake McDonald Valley. Travel up the Going-to-the-Sun Road along a glacially formed mountain ridge to the top of the Crown of the Continent at Logan Pass. Head down through the St. Mary Valley and out to the prairies of Big Sky Country. Continue into the magnificent Swiftcurrent Valley. Enjoy views of the valley where you have lunch on your own at Many Glacier Hotel or Swiftcurrent. Experience an encore vista on your return trip to the west side of the park.

The day ends in Great Falls, MT where you check into your hotel for the night. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 10 – Last Chance Tour Train – Grizzly Discovery Center & IMAX Movie – West Yellowstone, MT 

Today, visit Helena, MT for a ride on the Last Chance Tour Train. See the opulent mansion district, marvel at the Cathedral of St. Helena, and roll by the governor’s homes. Cruise by a restored miners’ village, enjoy the unique architecture along Last Chance Gulch, and catch a glimpse of the Old Fire Tower. It’s the fun way to see beautiful and historic Helena!

Then travel to West Yellowstone, MT where on arrival you visit the Grizzly Discovery Center. Watch bears and wolves in their natural environments. All the animals at the Grizzly & Wolf Discover Center are unable to survive in the wild and serve as ambassadors for their wild counterparts. Check into your West Yellowstone, MT hotel for a two-night stay. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 11 – Full Day Yellowstone Guided Tour 

After breakfast, meet your local guide this morning to begin a full day of touring in Yellowstone National Park with nearly 3,500-sq.-mile wilderness recreation area atop a volcanic hot spot. Mostly in Wyoming, the park spreads into parts of Montana and Idaho too. Yellowstone features dramatic canyons, alpine rivers, lush forests, hot springs and gushing geysers, including its most famous, Old Faithful. It’s also home to hundreds of animal species, including bears, wolves, bison, elk and antelope. You’ll enjoy a full day with your guide exploring America’s first National Park with an included lunch.  Return to West Yellowstone for the evening and dinner on own. (B,L)

Day 12 – Museum of Clean – Salt Lake City, UT – Historic Temple Square 

Today you travel to Salt Lake City, but on the way make a stop in Pocatello, Idaho for a visit to the Museum of Clean. Walk into an awesome 75,000 sq. ft complex of excitement, education and inspiration. While most museums have a single subject focus this one is far, far from that —clean dominates the value of everything that effects life. The museum goal is to touch as many dimensions as possible. So, come prepared to do and get more than just see… remembering this is not a cleaning museum, it is a museum of clean.

Arrive this afternoon in Salt Lake City, UT where you enjoy a guided tour of Temple Square beginning at the North Visitors’ Center and includes why it took 40 years to build the Salt Lake Temple; the wonder of the Tabernacle, home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir; the Faith and Fortitude of the Mormon Pioneers; and the 11-foot marble Christus statue.

Then check into your Salt Lake City hotel for the night located near the airport. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 13 – Depart for Home 

This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, check out. Your motorcoach will transport you to the Salt Lake City airport where you meet your return flight home. (B)
